Lately, I’ve been riding with a HJC FG-12 (Windjammer II atached) and tried my Shoei RF1000 again. I forgot how quiet this helmet is! I went deep into triple digit speeds with none of the drumming noise from the wind buffeting and a lot less wind noise. I remember from last summer how amazingly cool my head was in it on 80 degree days. The only problem is that I have two points in my skull (horns you could call them :) This makes the RF1000 less comfortable than the HJC for me. I had thought of grinding down my skull, but I’ll probably get in the helmet and shave some depressions into the foam to accommodate my head. Can’t wait to try this helmet with the Windjammer II attached. It’s quite a light helmet as well. The aerodynamics are also set up to prevent that massive lift a helmet gets at high speed if you raise your head into the wind above your windshield. All in all, a lot of thought put into how this helmet reacts to wind.

The solid color is beautiful, but the paint is very sensible. It is easy to sracth it. Anyway, it is very well finished, it has a good ventilation and a very low noise level. It is possible to reach 60 MPH without rearing any sound of wind.

Great helmet!
